Coming together for a rare live outdoor collaboration, two huge fan favourites – Cantopop heroes RubberBand and the acclaimed Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra – present an electrifying fusion of home-grown Hong Kong sounds.

For almost two decades, local icons RubberBand have had Hong Kong audiences shouting for more with their powerful onstage presence and potent blend of indie rock, Cantopop and heartfelt ballads. This time, the Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra lend their virtuosic big band jazz arrangements to the mix. While RubberBand and Patrick Lui are longtime collaborators – Lui is the arranger and co-producer on a number of the band’s albums – this show marks one of the few times they have performed together live on stage. The collaboratively curated performance combines Lui’s signature big-band style and a movie-inspired theme, showcasing film soundtracks written by RubberBand, as well as new arrangements of familiar music from popular Hong Kong films. Regular headliners at Freespace Jazz Fest, the Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra have in the past teamed up with major local names like Janice Vidal, Angelita Li and MC Yan.
