“LANDSCAPE PICTURESQUE”-Exhibition by Artists in Hong Kong in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong Central Library

"A country is like a painting, and there are so many heroes at one time." - In the land of China, there are outstanding people and places. There is no mountain that is not beautiful, and there is no water that is not beautiful. Hong Kong, a city of mountains and seas at the southern tip of the motherland, brings together the essence of Chinese and Western art and has given birth to three generations of artists, old, middle-aged and young. We conduct different artistic explorations through different media and strive to create artistic works with Hong Kong characteristics.
In order to promote cultural and artistic exchanges among cities in the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong hosted the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival" for the first time this year, coordinating outstanding cultural and performing arts activities in 11 cities in the Greater Bay Area. In order to cooperate with the 4th "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival" and actively leverage Hong Kong's advantages as a "Chinese and foreign cultural and artistic exchange center", the "China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hong Kong Members" (Hong Kong Federation of Literary and Art Circles), "China Federation of Literary and Art Circles" "The Painting of Rivers and Mountains" Exhibition of Works by Hong Kong Artists to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" co-organized by the Hong Kong Member Branch of the Artists Association and the Hong Kong Artists Association will be held in Hong Kong from October 25 to 30, 2024 The exhibition halls 1 to 5 on the ground floor of the Central Library were grandly held.
A number of officiating guests and artists attended the opening ceremony to kick off the exhibition. Mr. Ma Fengguo, deputy to the National People's Congress, member of the Legislative Council and president of the Hong Kong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, delivered a welcome speech and said that this exhibition will attract people from Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area who are interested in visual arts to visit in person, promote creativity and talent exchange, and give full play to Hong Kong's role as a "Chinese-foreign cultural and artistic exchange center" and the presentation of Chinese culture and values to the international community will help enhance the country's cultural soft power.
Mr. Fok Kai-kang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Member of the Legislative Council, and Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said that this exhibition made him feel like he was in the great mountains and rivers of the motherland, and he deeply felt that the artists used unique thinking and media to display Chinese culture. He thanked Hong Kong artists for their love, persistence and deep creative cultivation of art, which has enabled the local art community to bloom. He also hoped that the government, business community and industry would continue to support Hong Kong art activities and inherit the exchange and development of Chinese culture.
Professor Kim Yiu-kee, former president of the Chinese University and consultant to the Hong Kong Artists Association, said that he had seen many art exhibitions before, and many of them were disappointing. There are nearly 300 works in this exhibition. I have just seen more than 100 works, and every one of them is amazing and surprising. , the most disappointing part was not finding a painting that disappointed him!
Mr. Lin Tianxing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Branch of the Chinese Artists Association, Chairman of the Hong Kong Artists Association, and exhibition curator, thanked the government for its continued support in promoting Hong Kong art and cultural activities. He hoped that there would be more creative platforms in the future for Hong Kong artists to showcase their works.
The exhibition will last for six days and will showcase nearly 300 Hong Kong artists, with a total of nearly 300 outstanding works, of which nearly 80% are brand new or publicly exhibited for the first time. A group of participating artists used ink paintings, oil paintings, prints, illustrations, sculptures, installation art, and technology art to outline six major viewing themes: prosperity, Chinese style, elegant mountains and rivers, humanistic feelings, Hong Kong style and The creativity is boundless, allowing citizens to appreciate the inspiration, technical practice, cultural connotation and spiritual direction behind the works. This not only fully demonstrates the uniqueness and diversity of Hong Kong artists, but also demonstrates the cultural soft power of the Greater Bay Area, implements the goal of "jointly building a humanistic Bay Area", and jointly promotes the inheritance and development of Chinese culture.
In addition, artist symposiums, artist demonstrations, and a special public painting experience area will be held at the exhibition site, allowing the public to appreciate the artistic creations of a hundred flowers, understand the artist's mental journey from multiple angles, and experience the painting process first-hand, cultivating the artistic sentiments of the public , aesthetic pursuit and cultural confidence, let’s tell the story of China and Hong Kong in the new era together.
