Piano Recital by Krystian Zimerman
Description
“One of the master pianists of our age”— BBC Music Magazine, UK
“My piano is incredibly flexible. It almost dreams with me in the concert. I have an idea, and I don’t even have to think how to do it. The piano reads it directly from my soul.”
Widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest pianists, Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman shot to fame when, at the age of 18, he became the youngest ever winner of the International Chopin Piano Competition. Since then he has embarked on an illustrious career, working with the most distinguished musicians and orchestras, as well as giving recitals in the world’s leading concert halls. A highly acclaimed recording pianist, Zimerman has won numerous awards for his albums, most recently Gramophone’s Piano Award 2023 for his recording of Szymanowski’s works. The pianist’s exceptional musicianship has been recognised by the Japanese Praemium Imperiale and the French Legion of Honour, among many other esteemed accolades.
Zimerman is renowned for his meticulous approach to his craft, performing on his own piano in search of the perfect sound in his mind. He also limits the number of concerts he gives every year. After a 12-year wait, his return to Hong Kong will feature two recitals with partly different programmes, including his highly acclaimed interpretations of works by Chopin and Szymanowski. An opportunity not to be missed to witness his artistic prowess!
